Physical
therapy is the treatment of physical dysfunction or injury by the use
of therapeutic exercise and the application of modalities, intended to
restore or facilitate normal function or development of an individual.
Physical Therapy provides pain relief through a multifaceted
treatment approach. Movement disorders such as neck pain, headaches, low
back pain, shoulder tendonitis, knee pain, sprains, tennis elbow and
limitations following surgery or injury can result in pain, swelling,
and loss of motion. As movement specialists, our physical therapists can
help provide relief from these problems and others.
In addition to the obvious cases of patients with sports injuries,
orthopedic surgeries, etc., there are those that live with intractable
chronic pain, postural deficiencies and muscle imbalances. These
maladies often go unattended for years until the pain becomes
intense—and in many cases, unbearable. Also, there are patients with
balance impairments, vertigo, decreased coordination and urinary
incontinence that can benefit from the intervention of Physical Therapy.
Until recent times, patients were treated almost exclusively with
traditional modalities — putting little or no emphasis on exercise
programs and the great results which can be obtained utilizing muscle
energy to correct the structural deficiencies of the body. At Therapy
Providers customized exercise programs are designed for each patient
with visual feedback and clear, concise instructions in either English
or Spanish. This enhances compliance and promotes independence.
In the treatment of patients with work-related injuries — the
majority of which are a consequence of improper ergonomics — Therapy
Providers will serve the needs of both patients and employers. The
objective is a speedy recovery by the patient and a safe return to work
without recurrences
